This is all really embarrassing for the Democrat party. Team Biden had multiple opportunities to squelch some of the issues Trump is winning on.
He could have adequately groomed an heir apparent (perhaps he tried and failed w/ Kamala?).
But for them to now admit what we all knew - that he’s an elder, aging male losing his physical/mental faculties, but still has a healthy, growing (already huge) ego - blows all their credibility, IMO.
Biden needs to come out and say something like “not my best night, but there are 8 more innings” and fight on - knowing that he’ll probably lose. And ditch the “…I had a cold”. Go out and fight and focus on/support Congressional battles.
But what i read about last nights show was a pathetic showing to USA and the rest of the world audiences.
I’m not a supporter of either candidate.
Team Blue is going to have a tough time gaslighting (a la Cheapfakes) the public on this one since so many people watched it live (at least the first 5-10 minutes).
I can’t imagine this doesn’t materially shake up the ticket. My bet is that Harris is out to be replaced by Whitmer with a commitment by Biden to retire in 2025.
They have until August 7th to pick a candidate if they want them to be on the ballot in Ohio. The convention is August 19th. They have a calendar problem, in addition to all the other much bigger problems they have this morning.
Yes. They can replace him now and there is plenty of time before the Convention and November to rally around a new candidate. If this had instead happened after the Convention, they would be screwed.
Could be. As I wake up and look at the follow up the “everyone knows that everyone knows” Common-Knowledge moment has arrived.
Time for change to happen, although it’s still concerning that it requires a complete disaster to provide adequate stimulus for it. Guess that’s what entrenched power structures of scale usually require
Spot on that the CNN group just gave up on Biden. And, I have to give my daughter, who is in no way I have ever seen political, credit. This is her text to the family: “Anyone else struggling through this “debate” between a stroke victim and Pinocchio?”
The whole CNN post debate team is talking about Biden being replaced. The. Whole. Panel. This is a monumental shift happening in real time. Truly a holy shit moment.
I don’t know, thinking about it, maybe this is actually a win for the blue tribe.
Or her. Agreed.
What I’m struggling with now is whether we deserve better or are getting what we deserve. Leaning former, but cannot discount the latter.
edit: on second thought, I may take the opportunity to finally be able to vote for my favorite President - Teddy Roosevelt
It’s painful… Might be the understatement of the year.
Who is the new candidate and how long does it take him to get on the ballot?.
